【 Instructions and Operating Steps 】 The instructions and operating steps can refer to the relevant provisions of GB8074-87 Determination of Specific Surface Area of Cement - Brinell Method. The following is an excerpt:
(1) Calibration of instruments
1. Standard materials: Use standard materials with specific surface areas close to 2800cm2/g and 4000 cm2/g to calibrate the testing instrument. Standard samples should be kept at room temperature before use.
2. Determination of the volume of the sample layer
Measure the volume of the sample layer using the following mercury displacement method
A、 Place two pieces of filter paper along the wall of the cylinder into the breathable cylinder, press down with the big end of the push rod (Attachment 1) until the filter paper is placed flat on the perforated plate, then fill it with mercury, lightly press the surface of the mercury with a thin glass plate until it is level with the upper opening of the cylinder, pour water silver out of the cylinder, weigh it, and record the mercury mass P1.
B、 Take out a piece of filter paper from the cylinder, add an appropriate amount of powder, cover it with a layer of filter paper, and compact it with a tamper until the support ring of the tamper contacts the top edge of the cylinder. Remove the tamper and add mercury to the upper space of the cylinder, using the same method as above to make the mercury surface level with the upper opening of the cylinder. Then pour out the mercury and weigh it, recording the mercury mass P2 with an accuracy of 0.5g
C、 Calculate the volume occupied by the sample layer using the following formula: (accurate to 0.005cm3)
V=(P1-P2)/ρ Mercury
In the formula: V - volume of the sample layer (cm2);
