The remote broadband Ethernet Modem adopts the EDSL technology, which combines the essence of the widely used communication technology (DSL technology and Ethernet technology), and realizes the direct transmission of IP packets within the access network scope (6 km) for the first time. It utilizes the basic concepts of DSL technology to achieve high-speed data transmission over traditional telephone twisted pair cables. This product is particularly suitable for remote point LAN connection using existing telephone twisted pair cables in situations where there are no fiber optic resources or fiber optic connections are not economical.

EDSL stands for Ethernet Digital subscriber line. It combines the essence of two widely used communication technologies (DSL and Ethernet) and realizes the direct transmission of IP packets in the access network (>5km) for the first time. EDSL utilizes the basic concepts of DSL technology to achieve high-speed data transmission over traditional telephone lines. Compared with traditional DSL technology, it not only overcomes many limitations of DSL technology, such as line selection and crosstalk, but also increases transmission distance and improves transmission efficiency. This technology is called the next generation DSL technology.
EDSL adopts innovative intelligent spectrum management technology and burst technology to directly transmit Ethernet packets over telephone lines. Its maximum transmission distance is 30000 feet (about 8 kilometers), and the highest speed is 10Mbps. The second-generation EDSL product can reach 100Mbps.
Compared with ADSL products, EDSL does not have the conversion between ATM and IP, and directly adopts an end-to-end IP design, which greatly improves transmission efficiency and makes the network structure simpler. Compared with Home PNA products, the biggest advantage of EDSL products is that their transmission distance is much longer than the hundreds of meters of Home PNA, and their application range is broader.

Option 2: Point to multipoint LAN interconnection

When there are fewer users, a modem can be used to replace the central office equipment (as shown in the figure below). When the number of users reaches a certain level, the central office modem can be moved to the user end, and the central office will use EDSL central office equipment DSLAM.
When the distance of the line is too long (>6 kilometers), cascade mode can be used.
This solution is suitable for telecommunications operators and enterprises and institutions with wiring equipment; At the same time, it is also applicable to the connection of local branches of banks, electricity, industry and commerce, taxation and other units, replacing the original DDN data dedicated line and greatly reducing investment costs.
If you cannot solve the line problem by yourself, you can apply for a dedicated line from the local telecommunications department (only renting telephone lines, not renting circuits without passing through voice switches).
